 OUR MISSION: Revitalizing Neighborhoods, One Skill at a Time. The Life Skill Solutions Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to empowering the Louisville/ Bullitt County community through life-skills classes, workforce-readiness support, and youth-focused educational programming. We revitalize neighborhoods by equipping individuals with the practical, daily-living skills, academic support, and career-preparation tools that strengthen independence, economic mobility, and community leadership. The Empowerment Hub is the heart of this vision: a dedicated community center where neighbors of every generation come together to learn, mentor, create, and grow.

1 Core Philosophy “Old School Teaching New School Lessons” Intergenerational mentorship is the foundation of everything we do. At the Empowerment Hub, experienced community members  elders, tradespeople, artists, and leaders  guide the next generation. Wisdom earned over a lifetime is passed directly to youth through hands-on teaching, honest conversation, and steady example. This model honors the knowledge already present in our community while equipping young people with skills that classrooms alone cannot provide.  Experience guides youth. Seasoned mentors lead every program area, modeling both skill and character. Knowledge stays local. Skills are shared neighbor-to-neighbor, keeping value within the community.  Relationships drive results. Mentorship builds the trust that turns a lesson into a life change. 

2 Program Offerings: The “Empowerment Menu” The Hub offers a curated menu of hands-on programs. Each is designed to build a practical life skill while creating space for mentorship and connection. Culinary Arts Cooking classes that teach healthy meal preparation, nutrition, and kitchen confidence  practical life skills that serve participants for a lifetime. Community Garden A hands-on garden promoting sustainability and food security, teaching neighbors to grow fresh, healthy food and care for shared green space. Automotive Basics Practical instruction in a garage setting  including oil changes and tire changes  giving participants the confidence and skills to maintain their own vehicles. The Arts Art classes and pottery for creative expression, plus a performing-arts program where participants rehearse and put on plays for the community. Academic Support Tutoring and one-on-one mentorship that reinforce math, reading, and study skills, helping students stay on track and reach their goals. Mentorship-Driven Every offering on the menu is delivered by experienced community members, embodying our “Old School Teaching New School Lessons” philosophy. 

3 Strategic Partnerships & Workforce: The Hub's impact is multiplied through deliberate partnerships that bring volunteers, students, mentors, and job seekers together under one roof. Court System Partnership. A strictly vetted Community Service program in partnership with the local court system.  Participants fulfill court-ordered service through structured assignments, supporting site maintenance, neighborhood projects, and Foundation events in a productive, accountable way. Youth Engagement  Partnerships with local high schools enable students to complete community-service hours at the Hub.  Young volunteers gain real-world experience while strengthening their ties to the neighborhood. Mentorship  Community leaders deliver “Hope-Filled Speeches” that inspire, encourage, and uplift participants.  These sessions reinforce resilience and possibility, especially for the youth we serve. Career Development Job seekers meet one-on-one with volunteer coaches for résumé building, interview preparation, and career guidance.  Personalized coaching connects participants to clear pathways toward employment and economic mobility. 

4 Sustainability & Fundraising: A lasting Hub requires lasting support. The Foundation sustains its programs through a diversified mix of community engagement, signature events, and philanthropic giving. Community Events Semi-Annual Art Galas Donations & Grants Neighborhood events raise funds for program supplies and facility utilities, keeping the Hub's doors open and its classes stocked. Two signature Art Galas each year showcase participant work and community talent while generating vital operating support. Tax-deductible donations and grant funding under our 501(c)(3) status (EIN 41-4966787) provide a stable base for growth.
