The Mills Academy Advantage

Mills Academy is a small transitional private school in Louisville, KY founded in 2012 for children diagnosed with ADHD and/or Anxiety with accompanying learning differences in reading, writing, or math. We are a school for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade and provide an all-inclusive, collaborative approach to your child’s learning. Through the integration of Speech and Occupational Therapy through MindBodyChild, combined with explicit and systematic intervention and instruction, our individualized program strengthens executive functioning skills, builds confident and independent learners, and empowers our students to access the tools they need to advocate for themselves and thrive in their educational journey.

Our Mission and Values

Our mission is to create a nurturing and supportive environment that challenges our students academically, while continuing to meet the needs of their unique learning abilities. The routines and predictability of each day allows children to work to their highest potential when they feel safe, understood and supported. These interventions are necessary to help foster our student’s ability to be independent learners, which is the key to a successful transition into mainstream education.

We value meaningful collaboration among families, therapists, and teachers which is key as we create individualized programming that empowers each student to achieve their unique goals, develop confidence, advocate for their needs, become regulated learners, and actively engage in their community. Our child-centered approach fosters a love of learning, meaningful engagement, and growth within a sensory-enriched environment. Our intentional and holistic model of education and therapy allows every child to reach their fullest potential and experience success both in and beyond the classroom.
