Sonrisas Y Luz

Sonrisas y Luz supports Spanish-speaking families of children with autism and other special needs. Our mutual support network provides an inclusive space for learning, connection, and belonging. We provide training, guidance, and resources to improve children and families’ quality of life and mental wellness, so no one has to navigate life with a disability alone.

We help reduce the barriers families often face — cultural and linguistic isolation, stigma, economic status. Our rapidly-growing network already includes over 300 families across Louisville, many of them recent immigrants in low-income households, often raising more than one child with special needs.

Through the generosity of our community, businesses, and donors, we provide unique culturally and linguistically accessible services including:

✨ Family Support Network - connecting Spanish-speaking families to one another for mutual support, to share lived experiences, encouragement, empathy and hope

✨ Culturally inclusive support groups and workshops - led by professional service providers to support caregivers' knowledge, skills, mental wellness and resilience

✨Community Events & Gatherings - Inclusive activities for children and families to build connection, joy, and belonging for children and caregivers alike

✨ Resource Navigation - Individualized support to navigate and connect with existing community services

✨Teen Club - regular meetings to connect with peers, learn new skills, all led by the interests and goals of the participants
