The People's University

Born out of the 2020 Louisville Uprisings, The People's University is a community-centered learning initiative built on the belief that no one knows everything, but together we know a lot. We not only believe that everyone has something to learn, but that everyone has something to teach. 

At The People's University, spaces are created for people to come together to learn, share knowledge, build skills, explore important issues, and strengthen community. Our courses, workshops, book clubs, etc., are led by educators, organizers, activists, and more who bring both lived experience and expertise to "the classroom". At TPU, we believe that knowledge should be accessible, relevant, and rooted in justice and liberation, addressing the needs of everyday people. 

Funds raised will support the continuation of community learning by helping to:

• Keep courses free and accessible to all
• Provide materials and resources to participants
• Recruit & support facilitators who share their knowledge and expertise
• Expand our course offerings
• And, ultimately, build the infrastructure needed to make TPU sustainable for years to come
