Support KWA: Give For Good Water!

Working at Kentucky Waterways Alliance (KWA) as the Director of Community Engagement is much more than just a job to me. KWA's mission to protect, restore, and celebrate our waterways deeply aligns with my belief that clean water is a basic human right and that our waterways have the right to be protected. I'm very proud of KWA's advocacy for clean water policy, as well as the work we do to restore our rivers and streams.  As a paddler, photographer, and essayist, Kentucky’s beautiful rivers and creeks serve as endless inspiration. Below is an excerpt from an essay I wrote last year about rivers and interconnectedness. 

I am made in the image of the River. Crisscrossing the back of my hand are veins that mirror a hydrological map of the River’s meandering. The River’s fractal nature is everywhere—in mountain ranges, wild coastlines, tiny ferns, and blooming ice crystals. You’ll see in it the forks of lightning that pierce the summer sky–mimicking branches of water flowing from a River’s headwaters. Both are looking for the path of least resistance. Even the shadow of a tree laid bare across the farm field reveals that it is a river in disguise, or by design. It’s a holy trinity—life, the divine, the River. The words are interchangeable. There is no other. All are one.
