Science for Every Age Every Stage: Sara's Page

As someone who earned a degree in Creative Writing with a second major in English Literature, my career path may not look like the traditional route into Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM). Yet when I reflect on nearly two decades of work focused on problem solving, design thinking/human-centered design, stakeholder engagement, change management, and communications, I see STEAM at the center of everything I do. The most effective solutions rarely come from technical expertise alone: They emerge when analytical thinking is combined with curiosity, creativity, empathy, and the ability to understand and communicate human needs. In many ways, my work has been a daily practice in bringing the "A" to STEAM.

That is why I am passionate about the Kentucky Science Center and its commitment to STEAM education. The challenges our communities will face tomorrow will require scientists, engineers, technologists, artists, storytellers, and innovators working together. By helping young people explore, experiment, create, and ask questions, the Science Center is building not only future careers but also future problem solvers. Supporting this work means investing in a world where imagination and innovation go hand in hand, and where every child has the opportunity to discover their potential to shape the future.

This year on September 10, I'm excited to participate in Give for Good Louisville to raise funds for Kentucky Science Center's Annual Fund for Science. 

I hope to raise $750 in support of Kentucky Science Center's overall goal of $35,000.

Funds raised will support the Annual Fund for Science, providing ongoing support for education programs and initiatives including:

• $500 supports Pulse of Surgery for a class of 25 students. 
• $300 takes one Science Expo to children’s and families’ neighborhoods.
• $139 supports one family with a Community Access Membership. 
• $21 supports one student's field trip admission to our Flagship Facility. 

Your gift will help provide people with hands-on experiences that demonstrate the relevance of STEAM in everyday life.
