Team Rolo

Not every second chance ends with a release. Rolo the raccoon came to Second Chances with a torn Achilles and needed specialized care, time, and a safe place to heal. Unfortunately, his injury meant returning to the wild was no longer an option, but Rolo’s story didn’t end there. Today, he is one of our ambassador animals, helping us teach others about Kentucky’s native wildlife and the importance of protecting it. Your support during Give for Good helps us provide the medical care and ongoing support animals like Rolo need, and gives them a second chance to make an impact in a whole new way. 💜🦝Give for Good Louisville is Second Chances Wildlife Center’s biggest giving day of the year, and this team is ready to make a BIG impact for Kentucky’s native wildlife!

Every day, injured, orphaned, and displaced wild animals come through our doors needing a second chance. In 2025 alone, we rehabilitated 324 native animals with an 80% release rate and responded to more than 3,200 wildlife-related calls, emails, and messages from people looking for help. We also reached more than 3,000 students through educational programs, field trips, and community outreach.

Your support helps provide the food, formula, medical supplies, rehabilitation equipment, safe habitats, and specialized care these animals need to heal and, whenever possible, return to the wild where they belong. It also helps our wildlife ambassadors continue teaching children and adults across Kentucky about conservation, coexistence, and the incredible wildlife living right in our own backyards.
