The Tony Bennett Memorial Foundation was born from unimaginable loss—but built on hope.

Founded in memory of Tony Bennett, who died by suicide in 2016, our mission is to support families affected by suicide, invest in resilient young people, and create greater awareness around mental health and suicide prevention.

Because behind every statistic is a person.

Behind every loss is a family.

And behind every family is a story.

Meet Devan

In 2021, Devan lost his brother, Dustin, a Marine Corps veteran and father, to suicide.

For nearly five years, Dustin's final resting place remained without a headstone. This year, the Tony Bennett Memorial Foundation had the privilege of helping Devan and his family create a lasting memorial for Dustin.

Afterward, Devan shared:

“My brother has been on that hill for almost 5 years without a headstone. You guys have closed a chapter of my life that had been aching my soul since he was laid to rest. You guys stepped in on the most ‘monumental’ page of his life, you marked his final resting place on this earth & I forever love all of you for it.”

But Devan's story doesn't end there.

He still washes semi-trucks—the same work he and Dustin did together for years, right up until Dustin's death.

Now, Dustin has a weekly wash.

It may sound like a small thing, but grief lives in the small things: the memories, the routines, and the things we used to do together.

Sometimes helping a family heal means helping them honor the person they lost.

Meet Anna

Anna Lericos lost her mother to suicide when she was young.

Her loss shaped her life, but it did not define her future.

A 2025 graduate of Floyd Central High School, Anna received a Tony Bennett Memorial Foundation scholarship and has completed her freshman year at Indiana University Bloomington, where she studies nonprofit management.

Today, Anna is turning her experience into service. She serves on the Bloomington Out of the Darkness Walk committee, is working to establish an AFSP chapter at IU, and serves as a Peer Health and Wellness Educator.

Anna told us:

“Receiving the Tony Bennett Memorial Foundation Scholarship meant more than just financial help to me. It felt like someone believed in my story.”

That is what we hope our scholarships provide—not just financial assistance, but a reminder that your story matters and your future matters.

Two Stories. One Mission.

Dustin's story and Anna's story are different.

One is a brother remembering the life of someone he loved.

The other is a daughter turning her loss into a life of service.

But both remind us of something important:

Suicide doesn't end a story. It changes the stories of everyone left behind.

There are siblings like Devan. Children like Anna. Parents, spouses, grandparents, friends, classmates, coworkers, and entire communities left to navigate the aftermath.

We are here to walk alongside them.

Sometimes that means helping with a funeral or headstone.

Sometimes it means providing a scholarship.

Sometimes it means supporting mental health education and suicide prevention.

And sometimes it simply means reminding someone:

You are not alone.

By August 1, 2026, we had already created nearly $130,000 in impact.
