Louisville Grows - Lorie Davenport

Life can take us down the most interesting paths, and in the last few years, I have found myself falling in love - with an organization.  Many of you have heard me ramble on ad nauseum about the uplifting mission of Louisville Grows, about the heat islands around Louisville and how planting trees helps the future of Louisville's heat index not look so bleak. Or maybe you've considered taking part in one of the awesome planting days where dozens of civic-minded community members gather together to get 100 or more trees planted in various Louisville neighborhoods. (Full disclosure is that the LG Community Engagement Manager is my favorite daughter, and I'm grateful to her for introducing me to this great organization.)

This year I finally had a real vegetable garden and over 80% of the plants that were in it came from the Seeds & Starts Sale at Louisville Grows last spring (ask to see pictures the next time you see me- my kids don't think I'm funny when I say it may have been my best creation ever).  Louisville Grows uses the money it raises at its seedling sale to provide technical grants for community gardens all over the city.  

Will you consider helping the greater Louisville community by making a Give For Good Donation the Louisville Grows through my page?  And if a donation isn't possible, and you'd like to instead volunteer at a tree planting or as a greenhouse helper, I can get you touch with the right people for that, too.
