New Americans Initiative (NAI) works alongside immigrant and refugee communities across Kentucky to create pathways from legal stability to civic participation, leadership, and advocacy.

We believe everyone should have the opportunity to understand their rights, navigate the systems that affect their lives, make their voices heard, and help shape the future of their communities.

Our work includes:

Legal Support — We provide free legal workshops that help immigrant families navigate green card and citizenship applications and take meaningful steps toward long-term stability and naturalization.

Civic Engagement — Through year-round, multilingual voter registration, voter education, and nonpartisan civic engagement, we help immigrant and refugee communities participate fully in our democracy and build lasting civic power beyond election cycles.

Advocacy & Leadership — We equip community members with the knowledge, skills, and connections they need to advocate for themselves, their families, and their communities — and to become leaders in the places they call home.

Narrative Inclusion — Through digital storytelling and media engagement, we amplify immigrant voices, challenge stereotypes, strengthen belonging, and help create a Kentucky where every community is seen and valued.

This work is rooted in trust, access, language justice, and relationships. We meet people where they are and work with trusted community partners to ensure that information and opportunities for civic participation are accessible to everyone.
