The Welcome Table at Briargate

Every week, we hear stories from individuals and families that say they're not able to afford regular meals. We meet parents who are caring for children and grandchildren, and disabled or homeless people that are not able to obtain good nutrition with their limited resources. A young woman told us last week that she was on the run from an abusive relationship, traveling with 3 children, one in a wheelchair. She said she was thankful she saw our sign, because she didn't know how she'd have fed her family that night.

The Welcome Table has served over 100,000 free hot meals since April 2019. We now prepare 600 meals each week!

With cuts to many Federal food programs, the need is soaring for our target population. While most of the proteins for our main dishes are provided by Dare to Care (which also has been impacted by Federal cuts), we spend about $500 per week obtaining the necessary ingredients for entrees, side dishes, packaging and kitchen supplies.
