Who We Are

In early 2015, a small group of parents who didn’t know each other particularly well, decided to meet over a cold beer at a local brewery in Louisville, KY. The one thing we had in common... kids battling cystic fibrosis. That night they decided to work tirelessly to rally their city to join the fight to save their kids and beat CF once and for all. Cure CF, Inc. was born!

Cystic fibrosis is a disease that’s robbing nearly 30,000 Americans of their adulthood, as the average life expectancy of a child with CF is just 37 years. Cure CF, Inc. began in 2015 as a group of parents with kids with CF who wanted to rally the Louisville community around finding a cure for this disease. Thirty-seven years with our children just isn’t enough. We started out by planning a fundraiser—a craft beer and pizza tasting party under the Second Street Bridge—and have grown into this organization that people in Louisville think of when they think of cystic fibrosis. 

We’ve raised over $3,100,000.00 million dollars in these last few years, and as a team solely comprised of volunteers—we have no overhead—we can funnel everything back into research, which we believe is the fastest route to a cure. 

Since we have ZERO employees all of the money was distributed to specific research projects at Norton Children’s Hospital, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation National, University of Michigan CF Center, Seattle CF Research Center and University of Texas CF Center. 

Your generous donation last year specifically went to CF research here in Louisville and the Seattle Institute for Biomedical and Clinical Research. It enabled our pediatric pulmonologists to have more “bench time” to perform lifesaving research on the effects of new pharmaceutical products on CF pediatric patients. 

Your money travelled all the way to Seattle, Washington and Dr. Rebecca Hull-Meichle’s study titled Comprehensive Analysis of the Cystic Fibrosis Pancreas.  

We have never even paid $0.01 to a member or for employee salary, benefits or fundraising expenses.
