Our Mission

Day Spring provides a path forward for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through services that cultivate hope, belonging, and community.

A Joyful and Fulfilling Life Begins at Home

Imagine waking up every day in your childhood bedroom—the same wallpaper, the same stuffed animals, the same limitations. You're an adult, but you've never been given the opportunity to grow into adulthood.

For many individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), this is reality. Not because they lack dreams or potential, but because society has not created enough opportunities for them to live independently and fully participate in their communities.

Day Spring Exists to Change Perceptions

Founded by families who wanted more than institutional care or isolation for their loved ones, Day Spring has spent more than 30 years helping adults with IDD build meaningful, independent lives. Since opening our first home in 1994, we have grown into a thriving community centered on dignity, choice, inclusion, and opportunity.

At Day Spring, we believe people with disabilities deserve more than care—they deserve connection, growth, and purpose. We help individuals gain confidence and independence through residential services, life-skills training, community engagement, and personalized support.

Building Independence Through College for Living

Day Spring offers a variety of residential options, including group homes, apartments, and family home placements, ensuring residents can choose the environment that best fits their goals and lifestyle.

Our newest program, College for Living, provides young adults with IDD the opportunity to develop life skills in a safe and supportive environment. Through daily classes, individualized mentoring, and semi-independent living experiences, students gain the tools needed to pursue greater independence and self-sufficiency.

Thanks to a recent expansion, we increased the program's capacity from six to nineteen residential students, opening the door for more young adults to achieve their highest potential.

Creating Community

At Day Spring, we do more than provide housing and support services. We create opportunities for belonging.

Through volunteer opportunities, community partnerships, and our Arts and Wellness Program, residents participate in local events, explore new interests, build friendships, and become active members of the Louisville community.

We envision a world where people with disabilities are fully included in everyday life—working, volunteering, attending events, and living independently. When inclusion becomes the norm, everyone benefits.

Help Fill the Funding Gap

While Medicaid funding supports a portion of our services, it does not cover the full cost of providing exceptional care and opportunities for our residents. Each year, Day Spring faces a funding gap of more than $500,000.

Many of our programs require around-the-clock support and individualized care to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents. In addition, Day Spring maintains seven buildings and thirteen acres of property that serve as homes and learning environments for the people we support.

Your generosity helps bridge this gap and ensures adults with IDD continue to receive the services, support, and opportunities they deserve.
