You've just received the keys to your own apartment after months of homelessness.  You are so excited!  But when you enter the apartment, you realize it is completely empty, no bed, no table, no chairs, nothing.  Suddenly overwhelming feelings of emptiness and loneliness rush over you.  It's a shelter - but not a home.

At God's Designs, we furnish and decorate apartments for individuals and families transitioning out of homelessness.  We turn empty spaces into warm, welcoming sanctuaries filled with beds, linens, kitchenware, and art.  We give them the physical foundation they need to rebuild their lives, stay housed, and truly make a house a home for our clients.

I had been sleeping on a concrete ledge for over a year.  After the God's Designs team left, I went over to my bed and pulled the comforter back and felt the clean, soft sheets.  I sat down and cried tears of immense joy.  I was no longer just surviving; I was finally safe in my own home.   "Clarissa"

After being in the army, I never wanted to stand in line again.  But, after surviving on the streets eating discarded leftovers, standing in line at the soup kitchen wasn't so bad.  When I finally got housing, I could sit on a cardboard box and eat take-out at my kitchen counter.  After God's Designs' team came, I really began living again.  They gave me a table and chairs, pots and pans, and even dish towels.  I made myself a feast and enjoyed my first home-cooked dinner in years!  "Bill"

I decided to check on the Client's little boy before we left the makeover.  He was sitting on the edge of his bed staring at the lamp on the table.  When I asked him if he liked it, I saw his face was covered in tears.  He told me he had never lived in a place with a lamp, and he couldn't believe he had his very own lamp in his very own room.  Volunteer
