WE ARE DEALING WITH A CRISIS AND WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Animal shelters across the country are at or over capacity due to more incoming pets than outgoing, with adoption rates declining from their peak during the pandemic. The longer animals stay contributes to stress not only for the pet but the volunteers and staff who care for them. Rising costs for food, supplies, medical and veterinary care are a key factor in this crisis.

Did you know that one unaltered male and female cat, all their offspring, can produce over 2 million unwanted cats in just 8 years.  THINK ABOUT THAT!

We at HSOC are dealing with this crisis by offering low cost spay, neuter and vaccine clinics to help reduce this over pet population. We also offer these clinics to other area rescue organizations who have no in-house medical facilities, to our local county Animal Control, and the surrounding underserved Henry, Trimble, Shelby, and Carroll Counties.  Trap Neuter Release (TNR) is another way we are addressing the overpopulation of unwanted cats. We are also offering our Hungry Paws food bank where people that need help can get food, so they do not need to surrender their pet.  Pet food & veterinary services are also available to home bound seniors. (For more details, click on our programs tab).

HERE IS WHERE YOU CAN HELP!

DONATE: Like everyone, we have felt the strain of rising costs of much needed supplies to fund our clinics and care for our animals. Financial donations help us to afford essential supplies, medical care, staffing, and the cost of our day-to-day operations.

Double your impact during Give for Good Louisville through our Donation Matches!

VOLUNTEER: We are always looking for volunteers. Volunteers help keep our shelter looking and running its best

FOSTER: With our shelter currently over capacity, we are always looking for ways to help more cats and dogs. By fostering for HSOC, you not only save the life of a shelter dog or cat, but your help also saves the lives of others.

HSOC is the proud recipient of a 4-star rating and 100% score from Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator. HSOC also earned earned a Platinum Transparency 2025 Candid badge from Guidestar, demonstrating our commitment to transparency. HSOC is also a Better Business Bureau Accredited Charity
