The Kentucky Black Filmmakers Association (KBFA) also known as the Kentucky BIPOC-United Filmmakers Association is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose purpose is to support and advocate for BIPOC individuals within the Kentucky film and television industry. Their mission focuses on ensuring that Black Indigenous & People of Color filmmakers receive equitable opportunities, quality training, financial support, creative distribution, job placement, and successful careers within the vibrant film and television landscape of Louisville Kentucky. Historically, BIPOC individuals and communities have faced barriers in accessing opportunities within various industries, including film and television. Our commitment extends beyond breaking these barriers to creating a safe, healthy, vibrant, sustainable ecosystem that attracts visitors, professionals, and families to Louisville and other cities throughout Kentucky and especially in areas of these cities that lack resources, talent exposure, education, mentorship and job opportunities.

Furthermore, the neglect of BIPOC communities in terms of advanced technology, job opportunities, education, training, and facilities can further perpetuate the lack of and limit the growth potential of these communities within the industry. The absence of a supportive and inclusive ecosystem would not only stifle BIPOC filmmakers' professional development but will also deny Kentucky and Louisville the opportunity to fully benefit from the economic potential and cultural significance that a diverse and vibrant film community and television industry can offer.

Your Giving for Good would help and grow infrastructure development, targeted training programs, mentorship initiatives, and inclusive hiring practices. We aim to create a thriving community that offers not only job and entrepreneurial opportunities but also a nurturing environment to visit, live, work, and raise families.

By giving you’ll be fostering a vibrant film and television industry with KBFA to retain and attract talented Kentuckians and Louisvillians who would otherwise seek opportunities outside the state and city. This will not only contribute to the local economy but also create a sense of pride, community, and belonging.

Giving for Good to the Kentucky Black & BIPOC-United Filmmakers Association will be a gift from you that will play a tremendous part in creating positive results, change, betterment and unification while building our economy and the confidence of the talent that we possess within the Commonwealth of KY and specifically the city of Louisville, KY, through the lens of creative media and filmmaking.
