KSU proudly serves all 120 counties in Kentucky through its Land-Grant and Cooperative Extension mission—delivering research-based education, youth development, and health and nutrition resources tailored to local needs. As the lead university in six counties, including Jefferson and Shelby, KSU provides vital outreach that uplifts both urban and rural communities.

Serving Louisville and Beyond

KSU shares a deep and enduring bond with Jefferson County, which consistently sends more Kentucky students to KSU than any other county. This relationship reflects the trust and aspirations of Louisville families, many of whom have seen generations of graduates return to serve their communities.

Through the Mobile Health Unit, KSU brings free health screenings, nutrition education, and wellness support directly into Louisville’s neighborhoods—removing barriers to care and empowering individuals to lead healthier lives. With a “Food is Medicine” approach, the university offers practical, culturally relevant strategies that help prevent and manage chronic disease, building a stronger, healthier Kentucky.

Educating the Next Generation

KSU’s commitment to access and opportunity extends into the classroom. Faculty teach dual credit courses in high schools across Jefferson and Shelby Counties, ensuring that local students gain early exposure to higher education. These partnerships not only strengthen academic achievement but also create a direct pipeline to KSU, inspiring the next generation of leaders, innovators, and changemakers.
