Parenting has never come with easy answers. But today, parents are navigating challenges that can feel bigger, faster, and harder to understand than ever before. From social media and screen time to vaping, mental health, and substance use, the questions keep coming. And too often, parents are left wondering: Where do I even start?

That’s where Operation Parent comes in.

In 2006, our founder, Jean, an Oldham County mother of five, saw a need in her own Kentucky community. Parents wanted to help their kids, but they didn’t always have the information, tools, or confidence to talk about the tough stuff. What started with a small group of parents in one Kentucky classroom has grown into a national organization that has reached more than 500,000 families.

For the past 20 years, Operation Parent has been empowering parents and caregivers to have casual, courageous conversations with their children. Through our trusted Parent Handbooks, expert-led webinars, digital resources, and community partnerships, we give families practical, prevention-focused tools to talk early, talk often, and stay connected through every stage of childhood.

We believe those everyday conversations can make a lasting difference. A conversation about vaping before there’s a problem. A check-in about mental health before things feel overwhelming. A discussion about social media, alcohol, friendships, or whatever challenge comes next. Parents don’t need to have all the answers. They just need the right tools, reliable information, and the confidence to start talking.
