Who We Are

For the last fifteen years, Refuge International has been partnering with local churches to love refugees and immigrants in Greater Louisville. Refuge has both one-off and ongoing volunteer ministry offerings for local church members to engage refugees and immigrants in our community. In all that we do, we seek to share the love of Christ by meeting basic needs and by offering the invaluable gift of friendship that we all need and desire. These are exciting days at Refuge International as we approach a new era of ministry with the development of two brand new ministry offerings in 2026. Read on to see how you can partner with us!

2 New Ministry Endeavors 

1. In 2026, we developed our 10-lesson video course, the Hospitality Guide for Local Churches. This course is designed to help churches become more hospitable to immigrants in their community by helping them understand the biblical mandate for loving the sojourner in their midst, recognize immigrants in their own community, identify "bridge members" in their church that are key to befriending and welcoming immigrants, and become familiar with some simple yet effective ways for engaging immigrants in their community. For the last fifteen years our ministry has been limited to the Greater Louisville area, but with this new resource, our ministry will be able to impact communities beyond Louisville to love and serve immigrants!

2. The second exciting new ministry offering is our DOJ-accredited Immigration Legal Services (ILS) center. For the first time in our organization's history, we will be able to minister to immigrants on our campus to meet one of their most felt needs (legal aid). This will open up even more volunteer serving opportunities for church members to be a part of (e.g. ESL, hospitality, financial literacy, etc.). The planned launch of the ILS center is in the summer/fall of 2027. 

The release of the Hospitality Guide and the establishment of a DOJ-Accredited ILS center is no small lift for our organization. Both of these resources will be revenue generating once operating, but will require significant startup support. 

We need your help!

Consequently, we are looking for some key patrons who would be willing to make significant investments in these worthy endeavors.  Your gift will provide critical support for program development and service delivery capacity as we spread the news about the Hospitality Guide and as fee-based revenue increases to a level sufficient for long-term sustainability. We need your help to raise $25,000 to make these two ministry offerings possible! A gift of any amount can have an amazing impact in our community for the lives of immigrants in critical need of legal aid, and in influencing churches in and beyond Greater Louisville to become hospitable places for refugees and immigrants.
