In 2025, See Forward Ministries in Louisville, KY extended a helping hand to immigrant African communities through several impactful projects. Here's a condensed overview of their remarkable initiatives:  

Refugee Health Promotion

Through our Refugee Health Promotion (RHP) program, we supported 391 individuals in building healthier lives by:

• Increasing health literacy, so participants better understand and manage their care

• Coordinating access to healthcare, helping families overcome barriers to essential services

• Hosting wellness groups that foster resilience, community connection, and healing

English Language Training

This year, 190 participants enrolled in English Language Training (ELT), gaining tools to:

• Pursue education and lifelong learning opportunities

• Access new employment pathways and achieve greater self-sufficiency

• Strengthen community connections through improved communication skills

Youth Mentoring

Our Youth Mentoring (YM) program reached 30 youth, helping them grow into confident leaders by:

• Encouraging positive civic and social engagement

• Supporting educational achievement and career development

• Building resilience, leadership skills, and a strong sense of belonging

ReCast Project

Through the ReCast Project, we reached over 750 community members to promote mental health, resilience, and equity by:

• Strengthening collaboration between behavioral health services and other vital supports

• Expanding equitable access to trauma-informed, community-based care

• Ensuring services are culturally specific and developmentally appropriate

Digital Literacy

With 20 participants this year, our Digital Literacy program provided:

• Skills, hardware, and training to close the digital divide

• Pathways to employment, education, and civic participation

• Greater equity in accessing opportunities in today’s digital society

Employment Services

This year, our Employment Services program helped 90 clients find meaningful work while supporting employers in building a skilled, diverse workforce.

• For Clients: we offered personalized job matching, resume assistance, interview coaching, employment-specific ESL classes, weekly work orientations, one month of transportation support after placement, and family case management. Staff fluent in Kinyarwanda and Swahili ensured clear communication and culturally responsive support throughout the employment process.
• For Employers: we provided access to a supported applicant pool, professional guidance, customized workshops, assistance with recruitment and hiring, one month of transportation support for new hires, and expert advice on attracting and retaining employees.

At See Forward Ministries, our mission is to ensure that refugees and immigrants have the resources, skills, and support they need to thrive in their new communities. This year, through a variety of impactful programs, we have strengthened health, education, digital access, and community resilience for hundreds of families.

See Forward Ministries is a bridge whereby US Citizens will intentionally meet to learn about other cultures and be given a platform to support and guide refugees and immigrants as they thrive toward reaching their highest potential.

Your contribution can make a significant difference in our mission. Here are some ways you can get involved:

$25 will cover the hourly rate for a translator

$30 will cover hourly rate for an ELT (English Language Training) teacher 

$100 will cover 5-hour pay for a bus driver  

$120 will support someone with a ride to work for a month 

$500 will cover our monthly utility bill
