Speed Art Museum

$90,494 raised by 50 donors

In a world that often feels fast-paced and fragmented, places that invite us to slow down, reflect, and connect are more vital than ever.

At the Speed Art Museum, we invite everyone to celebrate art, forever. More than Kentucky’s oldest and largest art museum, the Speed is a civic anchor — a welcoming space where creativity and community converge. Through nationally acclaimed exhibitions and programs designed to be accessible and inclusive, we ensure that visitors of all ages and backgrounds feel welcomed, connected, and inspired.

As the Speed approaches its Centennial in 2027, your gift helps carry this work into the Museum's next century. It preserves extraordinary art, opens doors to new experiences, and brings people together.

What Your Gift Makes Possible

Your support through Give for Good Louisville sustains experiences that open doors and strengthen community:

Community Days: Thousands gather annually for free museum days filled with artmaking, performances, and cultural celebration.
Extraordinary Art: Preserving and sharing 13,000 works spanning 6,000 years of human creativity, including the nation’s most comprehensive collection of works by Kentucky artists.
Exhibitions for Everyone: Showcasing diverse voices, from iconic masters to unsung visionaries to the next generation of emerging talent.
Creative Programs: Sparking curiosity and connection, from first art experiences to lifelong learning.
Speed Cinema: Nearly 300 screenings each year bring independent, classic, and international films rarely shown elsewhere in the region to Louisville audiences, sparking dialogue and building community.

Museums like the Speed generate real, measurable value. Research shows that every $1 invested in a museum experience yields $12 in social value, including improved health outcomes, reduced stress, and stronger community ties.
