Once an industrial eyesore, Louisville's waterfront has become one of the nation's most celebrated public spaces. Welcoming more than 2.5 million visits each year, Waterfront Park brings people to the river's edge to connect with nature, celebrate with family and friends, enjoy world-class events, and create lasting memories. Visitors come from across our community and beyond to experience the park that was voted the #1 Riverwalk in the United States.

Many people are surprised to learn that Waterfront Park is operated by an independent nonprofit organization. While the park is free and open to everyone, it is not free to maintain, program, and renew. From the Big Four Bridge and Lincoln Memorial to Waterfront Wednesdays, PlayPort, public art, and playgrounds, donor support helps make it all possible.

After serving millions of visitors for more than 25 years, some of our most beloved spaces are ready for reinvestment. This year, Waterfront Park will begin renovating the Adventure Playground and Splash Park, adjacent to the Big Four Bridge while planning future improvements in other well loved areas of the park.  

For more than 25 years, Waterfront Park has been the backdrop for millions of memories. With your support, it will continue to be the setting for millions more.

Waterfront Park is a nonprofit public park in Louisville, Kentucky. Bordering the Ohio River, we are not only a destination but the front door to our city. We connect people to the river, to nature, and to one another while preserving and growing a public space that inspires pride, strengthens community, and creates memories for generations to come.
