We're Doing More Than You Think at the YMCA of Greater Louisville...

You may know the Y for swim lessons, youth sports or the place down the street where your neighbor works out.

And yes, that's the Y. But it's only part of our story.

The Y also looks like a counselor opening the door for a teen who needs a safe place to go. It's a parent and preschooler learning together, a child spending their first night away at Camp Piomingo, or a student starting to picture themselves in college. It's childcare that helps a family make their day work. And right here in Louisville, it's National Safe Place helping communities across the country be there when young people need them most.

That's the Y, too.

Some of our work happens inside a Y. A lot of it doesn't. Because strengthening our community means meeting people where they are and finding new ways to show up when they need us.

Meet the Brown Bag Bus!

With two mobile units, the Brown Bag Bus brings nutritious meals and engaging nutrition education directly to children in neighborhoods across Louisville.

It's our focus for Give for Good this year, and one one way the Y meets people where they are. 

Your Give for Good gift can help keep the Brown Bag Bus moving.

And that's just one way the Y shows up.

Across Greater Louisville and Southern Indiana, that takes a lot of different forms.

• We feed children through the Brown Bag Bus and other food and nutrition programs.

• We give young people a safe place to turn through YMCA Safe Place Services, while the Y's National Safe Place Network connects and supports organizations working to keep youth safe across the country.

• We support kids and families through childcare, before- and after-school care, summer programs and Early Learning Readiness.

• We help young people see what's possible through Black Achievers, Y Achievers and other leadership and educational programs.

• We create experiences kids remember at YMCA Camp Piomingo.

• And yes, we teach kids to swim, coach youth sports and help people live healthier, more connected lives every day.

Different programs meet different needs, but they are one purpose. Helping people learn, grow, connect, and thrive.

That's what “For All” really means.

Sometimes, the family budget has to say no. With the help of generous donors, our For All Fund helps make room for a different answer.

Yes to camp.

Yes to new experiences.
Yes to belonging.
Yes to the Y.
