Our Story

At Access Justice, we play a long-game. We are of the same mind as this statement from Robert Kennedy, “You see things as they are and ask ‘why.’ I see things that never were and ask ‘why not.’”   Legal assistance TODAY means folks who have stopped hoping for “better” will have the opportunity for a bright tomorrow.  Tomorrow is created by hard work TODAY . . . EACH day, EACH dollar, EACH legal consult lays the foundation.

What We Do

With one legal aid attorney per thousands of individuals seeking help with civil matters in metro Louisville, the need can be overwhelming. We seek to bridge the access to justice gap with legal services that focus on immediate legal assistance and on training clients to represent themselves. At our in-person clinics and in telephone consultations, we provide:

• Legal "urgent" care services (45-60 minutes of free legal advice, education on their rights, training on how to handle their own filings if possible)
• Referrals to AJ Law attorneys or outside attorneys (if full representation is needed)
• Consulting for Nonprofit Organizations
• Conflict Resolution
• Educational Seminars (such as expungement, immigration, tax, estate planning, custody, conflict resolution, debtor-creditor, and landlord-tenant; also CLE approved seminars)

About Access Justice

Access Justice is proud to be an IRS registered 501(c)(3) faith based organization since 2014 serving  individuals seeking access to justice, regardless of their age, ability or disability, sex, ethnicity, nationality, religion, or sexual orientation through weekly and monthly clinics where volunteer attorneys provide clients who have no hope of a voice in or understanding of the daily proceedings of the legal system with 45-60 minutes of pro bono legal advice and counsel.
