Who We Are
Family & Children’s Place turns hurt into hope for children and families in Louisville and Southern Indiana. Since 1883, we have been building stronger families by preventing, stopping, and healing child abuse and neglect.
Through our doors, children and families find resilience, safety, and healing:
- Our HANDS program supports parents in creating healthy, safe, and nurturing environments for their newborn babies. Last year, our home visitors taught essential parenting skills to more than 430 families.
- Our Greater Louisville Head Start program partners with Community Coordinated Child Care (4-C) to give an additional 340 preschool-age children and their families the educational, health, and nutritional services they need to reach their full potential.
- And we work within local elementary and middle schools to improve academic success, build character, and increase social competency - all while bolstering relationships between students, families, and schools.
- Our world-class child advocacy centers are the front-line responders to more than 1,100 cases of suspected child physical and sexual abuse each year. In fact, we are the only organization that coordinates the efforts of child protection staff, law enforcement professionals, prosecutors, medical experts, and mental health clinicians - all under one roof. We do it all with the utmost care and compassion.
