Who We Are

The Kentucky Colonel Commission is the highest honor awarded by the Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, recognizing individuals for their noteworthy accomplishments and outstanding service to their community. The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels organization is a 501(c)(3) that supports charitable organizations by actively engaging Kentucky Colonels and fostering strong relationships to encourage continuous generous contributions to the Good Works Program, maintaining high grant-vetting standards, extending a helping hand to nonprofits throughout the Commonwealth, and being a good steward of our resources and traditions… all with integrity and compassion. The Kentucky Colonels is a non-partisan organization receiving no state government direction or support. In 2026, the Honorable Order awarded $2.6 million in grants that positively impacted over 4 million Kentuckians. Since 1951, the Honorable Order has granted out over $75 million.
