Who We Are
Kentucky Humanities is dedicated to "Telling Kentucky's Story®" through programs and services
that create a legacy of pride in the wealth of Kentucky' culture, building civic engagement, and supporting local humanities programs and events.
Kentucky Humanities was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in June 1972 as an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities and registered the name Kentucky Humanities as a DBA in May 2017.
Kentucky Humanities was formed with the purposes to develop the humanities as sources of insight into human problems, and support projects that increase understanding and appreciation of the humanities among the general public. Kentucky Humanities does this through several core programs, a biannual magazine, special events, our grant program to nurture and support local talent and initiatives, and partnerships with other organizations.
