Support musical storytelling that can only be found in Kentucky!

Visit Kentucky Opera to see beautiful costumes, sets, and stories brought to life on stage. Hear live music that delights and uplifts and feel connected to our community through the powerful medium of opera.

Through performances, school programs, and community events throughout the year we aim to spark discovery and joy to build a vibrant, healthy community.

Support from donors like you keeps the magic onstage, in the classroom, and in community centers across Kentuckiana. Thank you for your generosity! This year, our Give for Good campaign will support scholarships and materials for the Youth Opera Project. This program immerses students ages 8-18 in a 10-month after school program with supportive professional teaching artists. Youth Opera Project participants are cast in chorus roles, solo roles, and offered other performing opportunities on Kentucky Opera’s mainstage and in the community throughout the season.

Who We Are

Kentucly Opera's vision is bold. We contribute to the cultural health of our region, promoting a compassionate, open-minded, and vibrant community. On stage and off, we believe the arts are a powerful tool for exploring complex issues, fostering creative discovery for people of all ages and backgrounds, and connecting diverse communities to each other.

2026/27 Season

Our 2026/2027 Season is all about family, given and found, and the ways we connect with each other. We start off with a bang back in the Brown Theatre with Rossini's comedy The Barber of Seville, then journey across Louisville with SongWeek in November, culminating in the moving song cycle COTTON. In March the Opera Center turns into a fashion runway with hometown star Emily Albrink headlining a tongue-in-cheek look at Mozart's Cosi fan tutte. In May we join forces with the Louisville Orchestra in the drama of Strauss' Salome.

The season ends with a special presentation of Ravel's The Child and the Spells at Waterfront Botanical Gardens in June! Don't miss it!
