The Louisville Jazz Society's mission is to encourage, nourish and promote Jazz through live, public and on-line performances by local, regional and national level Jazz artists and engage in Outreach educational activities and related activities.

The Goals of the LJS include:

A. To provide performances of Jazz in its many idioms including live in-person performances, online, and streaming and make these performances available to the public as well as to LJS membership.

B. To provide opportunities for local Jazz artists to perform.

C. To increase community-wide awareness of Jazz, support and work with venues for the performance of Jazz, and expand the number of such venues where it is performed.

D. To help foster an appreciation for Jazz in all people but especially, the younger generations by supporting and promoting performances and educational opportunities in the greater Louisville area.

E. To develop a comprehensive educational plan to provide Jazz performances and dialogue to those who would normally not have access to this music. Educational programs should be provided to interested adults as well as primary, secondary and collegiate institutions, but not be limited to academic forums.

G. To develop outreach programs to export Jazz and provide opportunities for regional musicians to perform in communities outside the immediate metropolitan Louisville area.

H. To collaborate with educational institutions as well as other community organizations in the greater Louisville area to leverage our resources to provide and promote Jazz.
