What Drives Us?

OneWest is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to revitalizing Louisville’s West End by fostering commercial development and connecting our community. As we celebrate 10 years of service, our work continues to be guided by the voices and priorities of the nine neighborhoods that make up the West End.

Every day, families in the West End face limited access to basic food and retail options—forced to leave their own neighborhoods just to find a healthy meal or buy clothes for their children. This persistent scarcity not only limits economic opportunity, it undermines community dignity. In fact, residents of West Louisville spend nearly $475 million each year on retail goods and services, but only about $258 million of that spending occurs locally. That means almost $217 million — nearly half of all purchases — leaks out of the community annually.

OneWest is actively changing this reality. By transforming vacant properties into thriving spaces, supporting small businesses, and providing resources and training for local contractors, we are creating a future where residents can live, shop, dine, and thrive—right in their own community.
