Origin Park: Explore, Connect, Preserve

Planned to become a 430-acre greenspace, Origin Park is a transformative urban park reclaiming former landfills, junkyards, and neglected riverfront along the Ohio River in Southern Indiana. Designed to be a self-sustaining regional destination, the park will feature 22 miles of trails, a state-of-the-art Event Center, and a Whitewater Experience with rafting, zip lines, and more. Its revenue-generating components will support the long-term restoration and protection of the natural areas, while offering immersive outdoor experiences and vital habitat for local wildlife. Once completed, Origin Park is projected to attract over 1.2 million visitors annually, create nearly 3,000 jobs, and fuel economic, environmental, and community revitalization across the region.

The Why

While Origin Park manages multiple projects that will change the face of our communities, protecting and cleaning up the land remains the core pillar of our work.  

Origin Park has made profound strides toward delivering on a powerful promise to our community: to transform neglected riverfront land into an accessible, vibrant, and restorative public space.

Each time Origin Park acquires a piece of land, we make a commitment, not just to protect it, but to heal it. We remove salvage vehicles, clear trash and debris, and work to restore what has long been neglected. Once this ambitious project is complete, over 200 acres of junkyards and landfills will be transformed into a thriving park for all to enjoy. 

We are steadily progressing toward a future where this once-abused landscape becomes a regional destination and a point of pride for the entire community. This work is not easy.

It is more intensive and more expensive than developing pristine natural land. We’re not just adding trails to an untouched landscape; we’re reversing decades of environmental harm. But in doing so, we’re achieving two essential goals: Reversing years of neglect and creating a beautiful park.
