Celebrating 50 Years of Service
2025 marks South Louisville Community Ministries’ 50th anniversary of walking alongside neighbors in times of crisis. For five decades, SLCM has been a place of compassionate care — providing immediate relief, advocating with dignity, and building community strength for the future.
How to Support
There are three simple ways you can join us in celebrating 50 years of SLCM during Give for Good Louisville:
Make a Donation – Give on September 18 to help us reach our goal of $20,000 in 24 hours. Every gift makes a difference for neighbors in crisis.
Be a Peer-to-Peer Fundraiser – Create your own fundraising page to share your story and set a personal fundraising goal. This is a powerful way to inspire friends and family to give alongside you.
Spread the Word – Share SLCM's story through email, text, or social media. Our Resource Toolkit linked here includes sample messages and graphics you can personalize for your friends and family.
Our $50,000 Goal
This year, SLCM's goal is to raise $50,000 by December 31 to provide direct, life-saving assistance to our neighbors in crisis. We are kicking off this effort with Give for Good Louisville on September 18, where we aim to raise $20,000 in a single day.
Every dollar raised will go directly to programs that provide urgent and lasting support - no administrative costs, only assistance:
$5,000 – Accessibility Fund: Lyft rides for emergency needs, TARC passes, and interpretation for English Language Learners.
$10,000 – Infant Supplies: Diapers, wipes, and formula when needed.
$10,000 – Barrier Fund: Emergency aid to prevent homelessness or launch long-term stability when no other resources exist.
$5,000 – Housing Navigation: Moving assistance, application fees, and essential furniture for families transitioning to stable housing.
$15,000 – 0–5 Homelessness Prevention: Support for families with young children, ensuring no child ages 0–5 in Jefferson County becomes homeless.
$5,000 – Supplemental Food: Culturally competent ingredients for immigrant neighbors and medically tailored foods for vulnerable families.
Our Mission
SLCM provides emergency assistance and compassionate advocacy to low-income neighbors in crisis. We address immediate needs of hunger and stable housing while creating lasting community.
Emergency Assistance – Offering essential support when families face crisis, including food, infant supplies, hygiene items, and direct financial assistance for medications, utilities, or housing.
Compassionate Advocacy – Listening to and trusting our neighbors’ realities, then lifting up their stories to create more accessible, equitable, and dignified solutions.
Creating Lasting Community – Building community power by organizing and enabling neighbors’ dreams for a sustainable, local financial ecosystem. This includes convening support groups, expanding mutual aid opportunities, and hosting events that foster connection and engage stakeholders.
