The Asclepius Initiative

At The Asclepius Initiative (TAI), we believe health care is a human right, not a luxury. Our mission is to build public understanding and support for a health care coverage system where everyone has affordable, high-quality, continuous coverage from birth until death.

For too many people, the health care coverage system we have today is complicated, expensive, and uncertain. TAI’s research has shown how those problems affect Kentuckians, from delaying or skipping care or medications due to cost to struggling to understand and use their coverage.

TAI works to bring greater attention to these experiences and build support for a system that works better for everyone. Over the past year, we have:

• Continued research into the experiences and challenges Kentuckians have getting and using health care coverage and accessing care.
• Increased and updated our free online health care coverage resources, including webinars and animated videos.
• Shared statewide survey findings about health care coverage, affordability, and access. Results from TAI’s 2026 survey are now being analyzed.
• Conducted a major health care coverage literacy project in collaboration with 13 community partners across the Commonwealth, reaching more than 17,000 people.
• Increased efforts to introduce more Kentuckians to our free health care coverage educational materials and bring awareness to the organization and our mission.

While TAI works toward lasting change, we are also helping people better navigate the complicated system that exists today. Our free, easy-to-understand resources help people make more informed decisions about their health care coverage.
