We, The Woman’s Club of Louisville, impact our community through the spirit of giving. The Woman’s Club of Louisville is collecting funds for our Community Grant Program which annually gives out grants that focus primarily on small organizations, especially those who don’t get a lot of support from other places. This past year we gave $10,000 each to: Adelante Hispanic Achievers; Central Adult Learn-To-Swim; Santa’s Little Helpers, Inc.; and Steam Exchange Art Center. Those are in addition to our continued support of Whitney Young Elementary at Engelhard and Heuser Hearing & Language Academy, in the amounts of $3000 and $2000 respectively. That totals $45,000 given out in May 2025. Not included in that are the in-kind donations that we provide both those organizations on a regular basis. Help us increase that total for the coming year so that we can help more small non-profits! Over the last 5 years, The Woman’s Club of Louisville has given out grants totaling over $153,000! The list of improvements fostered by the Woman's Club is long, including everything from lobbying the local government to have a female Matron in the City Jails, to Woman's Suffrage, to supporting the Married Woman's Rights law of 1894 (which allowed women to retain their own property after marriage), to helping create the local Legal Aid Society, Red Cross, and the Louisville Free Public Library. The Club co-founded the Louisville Deaf-Oral School, now the Heuser Hearing and Language Academy, which was housed for many years in our building. 136 years later, our members still work to make our community better through civic involvement and charitable endeavors.
