 Who We Are 

Community Supported Acupuncture, Inc. (CSAcu) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit clinic based in Louisville, KY. We offer affordable and accessible acupuncture treatments, rooted in a sliding-scale model to ensure care for all, regardless of financial means. Similar to community-supported agriculture, our model enables community members to help sustain wellness services for everyone.

 Our Mission 

Our core values are accessibility, affordability, and compassionate, individualized care. Each contribution ensures that acupuncture remains within reach, fostering healing, balance, and well-being throughout our Louisville community.

 What We Offer 

• • Sliding-scale private acupuncture treatments, typically ranging from $40–$100

  • Group acupuncture every Friday, providing care to all—regardless of financial capability—with your support 

  • Membership program (annual investment of $500–$1,500)

  • SAAT Allergy Treatments which can bring about dramatic changes in allergy and autoimmune symptoms with minimal treatment

All that we offer is meant to empower proactive, long-term health planning and supports our sustainability as a community resource.

 Our Impact 

Thanks to generous supporters, CSAcu has dramatically increased access to acupuncture. Last year, we delivered 700+ free treatments, and that number continues to grow each year. Every donation helps us expand our reach and deepen our impact on Louisville’s health landscape.

Alpha-Gal Syndrome

At Community Supported Acupuncture, we know that accessible care is not just about affordability—it’s about meeting real health needs in our community. One of the most pressing and often overlooked of these is alpha-gal syndrome, a complicated tick-borne allergy that can cause severe, delayed reactions to red meat and mammalian by-products.

Dr. Mateo Bernal and Dr. Julie Flynn are at the forefront of treating alpha-gal patients in the Louisville region. Together, they have become trusted local leaders in guiding patients through the daily challenges of this condition. From severe dietary restrictions to hidden exposures in medicines and personal products, alpha-gal can turn everyday life into a minefield. Dr. Bernal and Dr. Flynn offer hope by integrating acupuncture, nutritional support, and lifestyle guidance with compassion and deep expertise.

Their work doesn’t stop at the clinic door. Both Dr. Bernal and Dr. Flynn collaborate with local physicians and allergists to raise awareness of alpha-gal in the wider medical community. By bridging conventional and holistic medicine, they ensure patients receive comprehensive support that addresses not only symptoms, but also quality of life.
