Friends of Metro Animal Services

Friends of Metro Animal Services (FOMAS) supports our community’s lost and abandoned pets by financially supporting Louisville Metro Animal Services (MAS).  Unfortunately, like many shelters across the U.S., MAS began 2025 in crisis.  So far this year, MAS is continuing to see record levels of intakes for both cats and dogs.  Over 6,615 animals have entered the shelter since January 1st. MAS is stretched to its limits and is struggling to cope with a relentless influx of homeless and abandoned animals. We need your help, and we need it now! 

For Give for Good Louisville, FOMAS' goal is to raise $25,000 to support its Pay It Forward Program. Pay It Forward is a program that allows FOMAS to cover the adoption fees for: (1) cats older than 6 months; (2) large breed dogs weighing 40 lbs. or more; and (3) senior shelter pets. This program is intended to help animals that are often overlooked in the shelter find a loving home through adoption. 

As MAS faces increased demands due to a rising homeless pet population, community support is essential for ensuring that all animals in MAS' care receive love and support while waiting on their future families.  Your donation, no matter the size, can make a profound difference in the lives of Louisville's community animals.  Will you Pay It Forward?
