Waterfront Botanical Gardens is dedicated to developing an urban botanical garden by transforming a landfill and creating a place where nature prospers and people thrive through education, entertainment, community, and tourism.

YOUR URBAN GARDEN

Located just beyond downtown Louisville, the Gardens are open year-round offering 100+ Adult Education programs, 50+ Youth Education programs, and many vibrant community events. As an urban botanical garden, we provide the Metro region a necessary green space for recreation and relaxation, contributing to a healthier urban environment, and promoting physical and mental well-being for all. Everything we do is focused on educating, inspiring, and enhancing appreciation of the natural world.

WE'RE GROWING: PHASE 2A IS NOW UNDERWAY

Since opening in 2019, the Gardens have become a cornerstone of Louisville's cultural and environmental landscape, attracting over 61,000 visitors annually.

Phase 2A represents a pivotal moment in the Gardens’ future, made possible through your generous philanthropic support.

Graeser Family Bonsai Garden

Five outdoor rooms themed around the great elements according to Japanese philosophy: water, earth, fire, wind, and void - or space.

The Joe and Debbie Graviss Bonsai House will serve as a dedicated space for the care and storage of our extended collection. Over 40 bonsai have already been donated to the Gardens’ collection, including iconic and rare specimens such as a breathtaking 1,100-year-old niwaki and the renowned ‘Father Paul Boxwood.’

Tree Allée

A grand, shaded walkway lined by American Dream™ Swamp White Oaks. This path will lead to the Beargrass Creek Overlook.

Beargrass Creek Overlook

Offering sweeping views of the surrounding landscape and Beargrass Creek. The Beargrass Creek Pathway Loop will serve as the completion of the current Beargrass Creek Pathway to create a fully walkable loop.
