After retiring from teaching July 1st, I have taken on a new mission: working with a group of high school students to get opportunities to experience the arts and to write about them. This program is Arts Angle Newsroom. I am continuing to use my passion for the arts and for education to try and do some good, and I have been so lucky to have found Arts Angle, and that they have welcomed me into the fold.

With your help, these students will get to experience performances and events in visual art, theatre, music, dance, literature, and the like, LIVE and IN-PERSON. All of you, my friends, have been so fortunate to have borne witness to events where people come together to have those moments that can evoke feelings and inspiration in our hearts and bodies, and as you well know, even change our lives. Everyone deserves the chance to have this, and after teaching for all these years, I know that is too often not a reality for young people. I have spent my entire life working to inspire creativity in myself and others. 

I rely on the chance to help young people, and when I find myself with like-minded individuals, I just go full steam ahead! For those young folks involved in this venture, it's not just getting the opportunity to have these experiences themselves. They will also fulfill the mission of spreading the word about these moving moments to others through writing about them and having their writing published. Furthermore, they are compensated for their writing!

In light of these times, where the arts are often minimized and overlooked, these young people will get to delve in deeply to understand that their voices and experiences are important to others, and that they can grow exponentially within themselves as human beings. The arts inspire empathy, courage, passion, perspective, and intelligence. Experiencing the arts first hand makes us strive to be better human beings.
