The Backside Learning Center (BLC) is an independent non-profit organization providing support and resources in a safe, welcoming environment for the diverse community of racetrack workers and their families.
We are happy to join HUNDREDS of Louisville-area nonprofits for #giveforgoodlou , a city-wide day of giving hosted by Community Foundation of Louisville. 🫶
With programs centered around educational support for both adults and youth, health and wellness, human services and more, the BLC is committed to serving as a “home away from home” for backside workers and their families. For Give for Good Louisville this year, we hope to increase capacity in our Front Runners after-school program to serve up to 40 children.
The BLC recently celebrated 20 years of providing support and resources to the diverse community of racetrack workers. This year, the BLC is celebrating TEN YEARS of energizing children of racetrack workers through the Front Runner’s after-school program.
Stay tuned next month as we learn how Front Runners positively impacts on our community. Bookmark the link below so you know where to find us.
Funds from Give for Good Louisville will be distributed the following ways:
- To continue supporting community partnerships in bringing arts, culture and education to the Front Runners program
- To increase capacity by 30%
- Bolster our literacy initiatives to help close reading gaps, build confidence, and set students up for long-term academic and life success.
Support our school-aged community members and follow us this Give for Good Louisville season! Please include us in your list of organizations to donate to September 18th for this year’s Give for Good Louisville.
