FOOD IS MEDICINE
In a landmark step toward addressing food insecurity, we acquired the former Cash Saver location across the street from our main clinic to develop an indoor farmers market, food pantry, and training kitchen, creating sustainable solutions for healthier living. For residents in west Louisville, one of the city’s food deserts which lacks grocery stores and fresh produce, this development will greatly impact the community. In the near future, patients could walk out of a PDCHC clinic with a prescription for three tomatoes, a head of broccoli and a bag of spinach.
We plans to integrate a “Food Is Medicine” program between our existing Pharmacy, Providers, and Farmer’s Market that will establish a holistic chain of care for our patient’s quality of life. This endowment ensures that funding is available to meet both the immediate and future challenges while continuing to prioritize patient well-being. This transformative decision by our Board of Directors and Senior Leadership establishes a long-term commitment to patient care and community health.
Donations to our Mackenzie Scott Endowment allows donors the opportunity to leave a legacy of support for generations to come. Anyone can donate to an endowment: individuals, groups, trusts, corporations, and foundations all while your tax-deductible gift will be used to advance our mission.
