My Cabbage Patch Story
Hi! My name is Doug Holm, and I have worked at The Cabbage Patch for 22 years. The work of The Cabbage Patch is meaningful to me because I’ve seen firsthand how it supports families during their most difficult times—offering a safe, nurturing space for children to learn, grow, and dream, while also walking alongside families as they navigate life’s challenges.

As part of Give for Good Louisville, we are having a staff challenge to fundraise $5,000 to support programs for children, youth, and families in Louisville. Please help me reach my goal to raise $150 to reach our goal!

About The Cabbage Patch

The Cabbage Patch is a local nonprofit empowering children, youth, and families to reach their full potential since 1910. "The Patch," as it's affectionately known, is named after the section of Old Louisville where it was founded by Louise Marshall, a determined young woman who dedicated her life to its service.

Our mission is to provide life-changing academic, recreational, and mentoring opportunities through Christ-centered values. We also strive to establish deep relationships and promote family stability. Today, The Patch:

  • Provides after-school educational and recreational programming to Louisville youth (ages 8-18).
  • Serves around 40 graduated members through the College Scholars Program, providing guidance and financial support to students pursuing higher education or a trade.
  • Supports families with immediate assistance and long-term case management services, as needed.
  • Removes barriers to build a sense of community, purpose, and belonging for people who need it most.
