CTCT is Creating Stable Tables for Families in Lou

I genuinely don’t know where I would be today without Change Today, Change Tomorrow.

In 2020, my heart was broken by the state of the world and by the cruelty I was seeing from fellow humans. I was looking for somewhere to put that grief, anger, and energy into something that mattered.

CTCT became a light for me.

I started showing up and volunteering as much as I could. Taylor took a chance on me because I kept showing up, and that chance changed the course of my life. Through CTCT, I got to see firsthand what it looks like when people decide their neighbors deserve better and then actually do the work to make things better.

Volunteering with CTCT helped me build a beautiful community in Louisville. Some of the most incredible people in my life are people I met because of this organization, and I will always be thankful for that.

Their work around food justice is especially personal to me. I grew up in a food apartheid, so being able to help combat them means more than I can put into words. We all deserve access to fresh, nourishing food, regardless of our ZIP code or income.

CTCT is the little engine that could. Nothing stops this organization from doing the work.

I have personally watched Taylor sacrifice more than anyone should have to sacrifice just to make sure the work continues and our community gets what it needs. She has shown me what real leadership can look like: showing up, finding a way, caring deeply, and never asking someone else to do something you wouldn’t do yourself.

From food justice and youth development to making sure kids get a visit from Santa, CTCT does the damn work.

And their impact on my life didn't stop when I started Period Y’all.

CTCT became Period Y’all’s fiscal sponsor and one of our biggest inspirations. They were doing menstrual equity work years before many people were even talking about it. Because of their support, Period Y’all has been able to grow in ways that simply would not have been possible otherwise, from becoming eligible to apply for grants to joining the Alliance for Period Supplies and opening doors that have allowed us to reach more people.

So when I say I would not be doing what I am doing today without Change Today, Change Tomorrow, I mean it.

CTCT didn't just give me somewhere to volunteer. They showed me what community care looks like in action. They gave me opportunities to serve, learn, lead, and dream bigger about what was possible. And when I decided to build something of my own, they were there to help Period Y’all grow.
