Hi! I'm Amanda, and I'm a longtime lover of our Olmsted Parks in Louisville. Specifically, I grew up going to Iroquois Park. I remember riding bikes with my sisters, cousins, and Papaw to the top of the park. I remember my aunt taking us up to the north overlook. I remember my parents taking us to the playground and up to sled down the hills in the snow.
As I got older, my relationship with our parks grew. I hung out with my roommate at Stansbury Park when I went to UofL. I walked down Eastern Parkway and through Cherokee Park with my friend. I did a tour of Shawnee Park with another friend. Anddd I still walked, played, and socialized a lot at Iroquois Park by myself and with family and friends.
Most recently, I've been on a quest to walk my way through all 17 Olmsted Parks and 6 parkways here in Louisville. I also joined the Olmsted Parks Conservancy Board, where I've learned so much more about our parks and realized something important... THESE PARKS DON'T JUST TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES. They're beautiful, healthy, accessible, and lasting, because people behind the Olmsted Parks Conservancy are dedicated to keeping Frederick Law Olmsted's vision alive.
