At Sacred Earth Community Garden, we believe young people deserve more than something to do—they deserve opportunities to work, earn, learn, lead, heal, and belong.

Our Young Urban Growers (YUGs) learn through paid workforce development, urban agriculture, entrepreneurship, wellness, leadership, and community service. They grow fresh food, prepare produce for market, serve customers, learn business skills, and help address food disparities in Louisville's West End.

But Sacred Earth has become more than a workplace.

Young people return even when they aren't scheduled to work. They come to talk, decompress, spend time in the garden, and simply be in a space they know belongs to them.

The job may introduce them to Sacred Earth. The relationships keep them connected.

🌱 What Will $40,000 Grow?

Your Give for Good investment will help us provide paid YUG educational and workforce-development stipends, send YUGs to Dillard University in New Orleans for an educational experience beyond the garden, install a new HVAC system in our youth gym and wellness space, sustain the leadership that keeps our programs operating, and offset an unexpected utility expense that could otherwise take resources away from youth programming.

🥕 Growing Toward Sustainability

We're also transforming part of our building into the Sacred Earth Fresh Farm Stand—creating a pathway for fresh-food access, youth entrepreneurship, workforce training, and earned income.

Our YUGs are already growing, harvesting, preparing, and selling fresh produce. The Fresh Farm Stand helps us take the next step: turning what young people learn in the garden into real-world experience while building a more sustainable future for Sacred Earth.
