My journey with Change Today Change Tomorrow started in 2021 when I joined as an unpaid intern and eventually became a manager. CTCT is where I truly fell in love with writing and where I got my start in grant writing. I will always be grateful that CTCT gave me a chance all those years ago because the experience has shaped, and continues to shape, my career and fuel my passions.
I originally joined CTCT because food insecurity is deeply personal to me and something I care passionately about. I firmly believe that everyone deserves access to food and that no one should have to go hungry. I was also inspired by Taylor and the way she engages and motivates people. Her passion for the work is palpable and contagious, and I knew I wanted to be part of an organization she was building.
More broadly, what I love most about CTCT’s work is how deeply youth and community members are involved in our programming and organization. The community is truly embedded in everything we do. That approach gives CTCT a unique way of operating and makes our programs stronger and more effective. We listen to the people most impacted by the issues we address, and then we actually include them in the solutions and decision-making processes.
Through CTCT’s work, I’ve seen real impact in the West End community. I’ve watched people become empowered to advocate for their rights and for what they believe is right. I’ve also seen CTCT create gathering spaces in the West End that many people once thought were impossible because of harmful preconceived notions about the community. Those spaces show what’s possible when people invest in community, listen, and build together.
Being part of CTCT has been incredibly meaningful to me, not just professionally, but personally. It’s a place where I’ve been able to grow, learn, and contribute to work that truly matters.
