Carla's Give for Good Campaign 2025

Five and a half years ago, I accepted a job offer as a Speech-Language Pathologist at Cedar Lake Lodge.  At the time, I could have never predicted the impact Cedar Lake would have on my life and my heart.  The Individuals I support have taught me so much about finding joy in little moments.  Let me share a story with you.  

I was assisting an Individual back to his suite after a speech therapy session.  The weather was nice so we decided to walk outside.  It was a busy day and my to-do list was impossibly long.  While I was rushing to get to my next task, my friend had a different plan.  I was walking slightly in front of him so I turned around to make sure he was still following me.  When I did, I found him with his nose in a flower.  He had stopped to enjoy and appreciate something beautiful, while I had walked past it without a second thought.  My attitude changed instantly as I joined him and took the time to smell a flower.  I will never forget what he taught me in that moment.
