As a Board Member of StageOne, I've seen firsthand the transformative power of arts education. My daughter has participated in classes and summer camps through Walden Conservatory, and the impact on her confidence, creativity, and growth has been immeasurable. After her very first summer camp when she was in first grade, she sat in her room and cried when it was over because she didn't want the experience to end. Today, she's in ninth grade and loves it just as much as she did then.
Through theater education, young people gain far more than artistic skills. They develop confidence, communication, collaboration, and empathy by learning to see the world through another person's perspective. I've watched my daughter grow through her experiences at Walden, gaining confidence, self-expression, meaningful friendships, and a deep appreciation for the power of the arts.
In 2024, Walden Conservatory and StageOne Family Theatre united to form a single organization, bringing together two longtime leaders in arts education and youth development. Last year, Walden Conservatory celebrated its 50th anniversary, and this year StageOne celebrates 80 years of serving our community. Together, these programs have shaped generations of young people, and I want to help ensure they continue inspiring, educating, and uplifting students for the next 130 years. When I look at the confidence, joy, and compassion they have fostered in my own daughter, I know how important this work is. I hope you'll join me in supporting it.
