AHOY! - A Museum for Louisville’s Kids

I spend my professional life working in museums, so I know how powerful they can be. But as a mom, I also see something special when my own children explore, play, ask questions, and discover something new.

That’s a big part of why I’m so excited about AHOY.

The Portland Museum is transforming a historic building into a completely new kind of space for Louisville—a place where our city’s history, imagination, creativity, and the sheer joy of childhood can come together. I’ve had the opportunity to see this project take shape, and I’m incredibly excited for the day when children and families can finally walk through those doors.

I joined the Portland Museum board because I believe in what this project can offer our community. AHOY will give children a place to climb, build, pretend, explore, and learn through hands-on experiences.

I want that for my own kids. But more importantly, I want those experiences to be available to all of Louisville’s children.

I believe every child deserves places that spark curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning. AHOY has the potential to be one of those places—a place where children can play, explore, imagine, and make memories that stay with them.
