Who We Are
Food is one of our most basic human needs. Yet for a growing number of our Louisville neighbors, putting enough food on the table has become increasingly difficult.
At St. Vincent de Paul Louisville, we believe everyone deserves access to food and to receive help with compassion, respect, and dignity.
Through Open Hand Kitchen, we serve hot meals seven days a week to anyone who comes through our doors hungry. Through our client-choice food pantry, individuals and families select groceries that help stretch already-tight household food budgets.
That commitment to our neighbors extends far beyond food. SVDP walks alongside individuals and families facing homelessness, poverty, addiction, mental illness, and economic crisis, providing shelter, affordable and supportive housing, counseling, and other support to help our neighbors move toward greater stability.
Sometimes making someone's burden a little lighter starts with something as simple as a hot meal or groceries for the week. And sometimes, that first bit of help opens the door to what comes next.
For more than 170 years, SVDP has shown up for our neighbors when they need us most. This Hunger Action Month, I'm asking you to join me.
“In my life, I want to become better and do a little good.”
