I serve on the board of the Louisville Nature Center because I’ve experienced firsthand how powerful nature can be for mental, physical, and emotional well‑being. Whether it’s hiking, gardening, or simply slowing down enough to notice what’s growing around me, nature grounds me—and I want everyone to have the opportunity to feel that same sense of connection.
In an age of constant screens and distractions, nature offers something we all desperately need: presence, calm, and perspective. The more time people spend in nature, the more they care about protecting it. What I love about LNC is that it makes nature accessible in the heart of our city and creates lifelong stewards of the natural world—starting as early as preschool and engaging people at every age and stage of life.
Help me further the mission of the Louisville Nature Center to be a catalyst for conservation through environmental education and connection to nature for every person!
About the Louisville Nature Center
The Louisville Nature Center (LNC) was founded in 1964 with a mission to promote and inspire environmental stewardship and to be a catalyst for conservation through environmental education and connection to nature for every person. Their vision is a community where everyone is inspired to be stewards of the natural world.
Nature EducationLNC offers countless points of connection to nature for all people of all ages. There are kids of all ages learning and playing on our grounds 40+ weeks out of the year between summer camps, Swallowtail Forest School, and field trips.
Their trails are open year round and the offer public programming, guided hikes, workshops, and more to help adults explore nature in their own backyards. If you want to learn more about the outdoors in the heart of metro Louisville, the Louisville Nature Center is the place to do it!
Land Restoration
After 60 years, LNC remains a cornerstone of Louisville's conservation efforts, and their work is crucial for the prosperity of our community and the education of the next generation of environmental stewards.
As the city of Louisville continues to grow and has the fastest-growing urban heat island affect in the country, LNC needs a needs a high-quality nature center. They are prepared to cement their role as the hub of environmental education in Louisville now and in the future.
Environmental Research
The Louisville Nature Center is proud to partner with research and academic institutions to contribute to a broader mission of conservation in Kentucky and around the globe. Currently, they are working with a team of researchers to catalog and tag endangered Eastern box turtles and learn how to halt their decline. LNC is in a unique position to become a haven for these animals, and working with tenured experts is what can help make that happen.
Please help me in supporting Louisville Nature Center in building a sustainable and long-lasting place for people of all ages to learn what it means to conserve and protect the environment right here at home.
